Product Description Do you want to get ahead in life?
Climb the ladder to personal success?
The secret, master networker Keith Ferrazzi claims, is in reaching out to other people. As Ferrazzi discovered early in life, what distinguishes highly successful people from everyone else is the way they use the power of relationships—so that everyone wins.
In Never Eat Alone, Ferrazzi lays out the specific steps—and inner mindset—he uses to reach out to connect with the thousands of colleagues, friends, and associates on his Rolodex, people he has helped and who have helped him.
The son of a small-town steelworker and a cleaning lady, Ferrazzi first used his remarkable ability to connect with others to pave the way to a scholarship at Yale, a Harvard MBA, and several top executive posts. Not yet out of his thirties, he developed a network of relationships that stretched from Washington’s corridors of power to Hollywood’s A-list, leading to him being named one of Crain’s 40 Under 40 and one of Davos’ Global Leader for Tomorrow.
Ferrazzi's form of connecting to the world around him is based on generosity, helping friends connect with other friends. Ferrazzi distinguishes genuine relationship-building from the crude, desperate glad-handling usually associated with “networking.” He then distills his system of reaching out to people into practical, proven principles. Among them: Don’t keep score: It’s never simply about getting what you want. It’s about getting what you want and making sure that the people who are important to you get what they want, too. “Ping” constantly: The Ins and Outs of reaching out to those in your circle of contacts all the time—not just when you need something. Never eat alone: The dynamics of status are the same whether you’re working at a corporation or attending a society event— “invisibility” is a fate worse than failure. In the course of the book, Ferrazzi outlines the timeless strategies shared by the world’s most connected individuals, from Katherine Graham to Bill Clinton, Vernon Jordan to the Dalai Lama. Chock full of specific advice on handling rejection, getting past gatekeepers, becoming a “conference commando,” and more, Never Eat Alone is destined to take its place alongside How to Win Friends and Influence People as an inspirational classic.

Way over the top for most readers September 1, 2010 Clint Kuipers (Minneapolis, MN) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I've never met Keith Ferrazzi. However, after reading this book my guess is that you have and that the two of you speak on a regular basis. Ferrazzi leaves an impression that it's possible to connect with nearly every human being on earth - well, at least the important ones.
Maybe it's my Midwestern sensibilities, but I don't know that I'd like Mr. Ferrazzi if I were to actually meet him (and again - this will apparently happen at some point during my life at the rate he's going). He comes across as a glad handing, baby kissing, socialite who flits from one high powered community gathering to another and claims to have a great time every step along the way.
I don't doubt that he is having a great time. What I fear is that for 99% of the population, emulating every move that he makes will set you up for a lifetime of misery. He says he's up at 4am in California so he can start calling people on the east coast and keeps it up with 100s of calls throughout the day. Emailing from his car, taxi, train, or airplane. Hosting dinner parties constantly. Constructing a strategy for meeting people at conferences. I don't doubt that these things work. I just doubt that any person whose goals don't include being a CEO, governor, or president can do what he does and not hate their life after a few weeks.
All that being said, I think that a lot of the information in the book is great and applicable to everybody. Being bold, mastering small talk, and getting involved in groups that you're passionate about are bound to bring you into contact with people who genuinely care about you and the goals that you have.
Overall, if you want to land yourself in a high-powered job and are willing to do whatever it takes to get you there, you'll love this book. If you just want to expand your network a bit and have an enjoyable time doing it, this book might push you over the edge.
Be, Do, Have! An absolute Must Have Book August 18, 2010 E. Orobator (United Kingdom) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
There are two kinds of people. Those who DO and every body else. Keith is a doer and he put in a lot of work to make this book the ultimate Relationship Building tool. An absolute great "here's how to do" and "why to do" advise. You can't miss even if you only implement 10% of what he tells you to do. This book changed my life for the better. Thank you Keith wherever you are.

Excellent July 27, 2010 Nick S. (Long Island, NY) I was given this book as a gift about three years ago by a colleague. I read it in one weekend, but I go back and review often. I have highlighted, written notes, dog eared and stuck post-it flags all over the thing. If you are new to networking this book will give you everything you need to know to get started. Even if you have been in sales for a long time this book will help you to recharge the batteries; and get you to rethink the way you propect. Read it. Study it. Memorize it. It will give you great ideas.
Life changing book July 25, 2010 Luuk von Meijenfeldt This is such a great inspiration for people that get energy out of building relationships, like me! Absolutely amzing!!
