Product Description Every brain begins as a female brain. It only becomes male eight weeks after conception, when excess testosterone shrinks the communications center, reduces the hearing cortex, and makes the part of the brain that processes sex twice as large.
Louann Brizendine, M.D. is a pioneering neuropsychiatrist who brings together the latest findings to show how the unique structure of the female brain determines how women think, what they value, how they communicate, and whom they’ll love. Brizendine reveals the neurological explanations behind why
• A woman remembers fights that a man insists never happened
• A teen girl is so obsessed with her looks and talking on the phone • Thoughts about sex enter a woman’s brain once every couple of days but enter a man’s brain about once every minute
• A woman knows what people are feeling, while a man can’t spot an emotion unless somebody cries or threatens bodily harm
• A woman over 50 is more likely to initiate divorce than a man
Women will come away from this book knowing that they have a lean, mean communicating machine. Men will develop a serious case of brain envy.

Not in good condition September 1, 2010 Sweet November The book was listed as being in "very good condition". The book I received had significant water damage and was covered in mold.
Unnecessary bias wrecks the effort August 29, 2010 Ken Kressin (Cannon Falls, MN USA) I admit I only made it through 30 pages of this book which my wife loved and really wanted me to read. I found the tone regarding men offensive to the degree of which the author lost credibility in my mind. I understand from the reviews that the first third of the book is that way. I have no problem with an author trying to teach and have fun at some expense of men, but I could not get past the stereotyping - and don't expect your man to share the same experience from the book. Perhaps I will give the later chapters a try and ignore the errors noted in these valuable reviews. But I give it one-star for wrecking what could have been a helpful dialogue.
I wish Stephen Jay Gould was still alive August 12, 2010 Naiara Sardinha Pinto (Austin, Texas United States) Bobby, some things are like a tire fire, trying to put it out only makes it worse. You just gotta grab a beer and let it burn.

Useful book August 3, 2010 Erin Shatara (San Jose, CA United States) Great for understanding some of the scientific (and hormonal) reasons the female brain operates the way it does. Would recommend as reading to all women....and maybe men to help them understand us too. From birth throughout our lives, we definitely have some unique influences and interesting bio-chemsitry. I plan to read 'the male brain' next.
A great read. July 26, 2010 Kathryn J. Macdonald (San Francisco, CA) Still in the midst of this book. Fascinating observations and insight written in a non-sciencey way making it a fun and entertaining read.
