Kelly Cutrone has long been mentoring women on how to make it in one of the most competitive industries in the world. She has kicked people out of fashion shows, forced some of reality television's shiny stars to fire their friends, and built her own company—one of the most powerful PR firms in the fashion business—from the ground up. Through it all, she has refused to be anything but herself.
Kelly writes in her trademark, no-bullshit style, combining personal and professional stories to share her secrets for success without selling out. Let's face it: this is a different world than the one in which our mothers grew up, and Kelly has created a real girl's guide to making it in today's world. Offering a wake-up call to women everywhere, she challenges us to stop the dogged pursuit of the perfect life and discover who we are and what we really want. Then she shows us how to go out there and get it. Much of our culture teaches us to muzzle our inner voice and follow the crowd; Kelly enables us to stop pretending and start truly living.
With chapters on how to find your tribe (those like-minded souls who make your heart sing), how sometimes a breakdown is really a breakthrough, and how there is no such thing as perfection, Kelly also shares practical advice, such as how to create a personal brand and how sometimes you have to fake it to make it.
Raw, hilarious, shocking, but always the honest truth, If You Have to Cry, Go Outside calls upon you to gather up your courage like an armful of clothes at a McQueen sample sale and follow your soul wherever it takes you. Whether you're just starting out in the world or looking to reinvent yourself, If You Have to Cry, Go Outside will be the spark you need to figure out what you have to say to the world—and how you're going to say it.

Better for a younger crowdSeptember 7, 2010 Julia Bennett(everywhere, USA) Kelly Catrone is known for her strong style & loose lip. This book is no exception. This is a good book for younger girls in general but especially those in fashion. I think it's fantastic that Catrone promotes finding a collection of friends that look out for each other. She also is an example of following your dreams instead of other peoples dreams for you. I could have done without her spiritual beliefs but overall a good read.
This book is a must read for anyone on a path of self rediscovery.August 30, 2010 Truthseeker2010 I would have given the book ten stars, but they only had five! Without a question I knew I had to order this book. I first saw Kelly Cutrone on the MTV show the Hills and the City, where she was Whitney Ports boss and mentor. I immediately took to Kelly Cutrones no nonsense attitude about business, life and just plain living in general. Some may think she is a "Bitch", but trust me in her case a "Bitch" is a very good thing to be. I could not stop laughing and snickering at this well written book. Kelly Cutrone gives it to you straight with no chaser! If you are a person who likes to keep it real, get this book. If you are a person who doesn't want to be lied to, get this book! Finally If you are someone who has always lived to please other people, and tends to go along to get along, please get this book! This book is a very easy and interesting read, I could not put it down. I absolutely adore Kelly Cutrone. I am not in the P.R. business, fashion or sales. I am actually at the total opposite end of the spectrum. I will never lend, sell or let anyone read mine, but I would recommend that they get their own copy. Thank you Kelly for being so honest and open with your life, you have reignited a spark in me that had been put out due to the woes of life, but after reading most of this book, it just confirmed to me that I was on the right path, I just needed to rid myself of some people and things that were going to keep me from reaching my destiny. Look out world, here I come. This book was God sent, and I hope anyone who has lost their spark and need to get back in the game of life takes time to get this book. I will personally buy one and give it to one of my friends on the condition that they do the same for someone else. Yes, it's just that good! Go Kelly Cutrone, you rock!
Fantastic book, highly recommended!!August 29, 2010 Kirsten This book is absolutely fantastic, I have told all my girlfriends to buy it.
Kelly tells her life story and writes about the lessons she has learnt along the way. Really great read!
A new meaning to "Used book"August 27, 2010 Emily Bedal 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
LOTS of writing and underlining in the copy I received. It was distracting and tacky in my opinion. Was not satisfied.
Best self-help bookAugust 19, 2010 *M* I have not even finished it and I already know i'm going to read it 3-4time more. She has lived the advice she is giving and what a life she has lead. It's not just self-help or a memoir. Its a kick in the ass
